GarageBand App Reviews

Not good enough

The new FX is useless. There should be more effects on par with desktop GarageBand (flanger, chorus, autotune, rnb male, etc) Also, I pay 10 bucks a month for Apple Music I SHOULD BE ABLE TO IMPORT ITS MUSIC INTO GARAGEBAND!! I do like the simple EQ that was added.

Almost perfect.

Everything about this program is excellent, exceptional even. . . Except for the fact you cant punch in and record at a spot of your choosing if you say mess up? Please add in the punch in to record feature. Please?

Why cant we change pictures?

I love the app, but I think we should be able to change pictures for Loops and Tracks. For example, if you wanted to put a Synth track and just call it a Piano track, you should be able to change the Synth picture to a Piano picture instead of having that annoying FX thingy picture. Its just something to think about, but I really think this is becoming an issue and it should be changed. Thank you for considering, Zack

Amazinf!

All I ask is that the guitars get a higher quality sound and more customization, have a horn section available, and let me write triplet notes easier without having to approximate them.

Awesome!

Its super fun. The only problem I have is that it takes up way too much space...

Best app to make music

This is the best app to make music but you should make it able to have the music keep on playing when you turn off your phone or when you press the home button. Other then that its all good

Okay

This app is okay but Im upset that the hip hop setting wont show up on my iPad because thats the whole reason I bought it. Does anyone know how to get that on my IPad? Cause if I can figure that out I will give it 5 stars

A Major Bug

So I recently picked up an iPad 3 purely for recording guitar tracks with GarageBand, as Im currently saving for a new pc. The other night I was tracking a song, had the guitar parts tracked( using AMPKIT) as well as drums, a bass line and some keyboard parts. The following day I went back to continue working on it, but when Id try and record a guitar solo over the track, it would freeze after Id stop the recording. It keeps doing this whenever I do anything to modify the track (copy and pasting parts to other sections, recording other parts, etc.) Id really like to see this fixed as soon as possible so I could keep recording my music.

Why cant it be free again?

I miss when the app did not cost anything, yes it is okay. But I accidentally uninstalled it and now I have to buy it to have it. I miss when it was free. Why does the world have to revolve around money. You guys have a lot already :c

App wont open on my 6s

App immediately freezes and kicks me out. Terrible.

Bug makes current version unusable

Im running an Apogee Quartet on an iPhone 6S Plus and the app will not recognize it. I hear a faint buzzing sound when attempting to record. No sound even when monitor is on. Terrible. Its been like this for weeks with no fix from Apple yet. No telling how long it will take them to fix it. I tried recording on Multitrack Studio and Auria and both work perfectly. No luck with GarageBand.

New update.

The new drums update took away a lot of the rhythmic creativity you could put into a song making it alike to the drum machine feature. Really buggy. This app is cool to play around and get entertained but it lacks of features that permits you to have full creativity over your songs.

Updated???

Downloading slowly.....?

Disappointed

GarageBand is great on Mac and very easy to use. This seems like it was designed for computer scientists, one of whom I am not. And no, this isnt because Im exceptionally stupid. The interface seems clunky, assuming you can figure out how to do ANYTHING. For now stay away and get it for Mac.

Need Improvement. Several bugs.

1. I make trap style music with this app. If I add in a set of 16th high hat hits or triplets, itll be fine. But after I save it and make sure its updated to iCloud, I will reopen it and sometimes it changes them to eighth notes or erases them completely. I have noticed that my iPod (newest gen) had this weird bug where if I plug in certain aux cords, it makes my music play 2x as fast or pulls up Siri. So my theory as a potential bug is that when I had my headphones in, it somehow triggered that bug. Or when I hear the song out loud and then plug in my headphones. Either way, there is some sort of problem with the AUX/headphone jack that affects my music and possibly GarageBand. If you edit a song, you are better off recording it while its how you want it with some other device than saving and then coming back only to find that its not how you saved it. Even IF you saved it to the iCloud. 2. The export is only ok. While you cant export your music as a MP3, MP4, WAV, AAC, MIDI, QuickTime, or any other style of audio, (which they should allow. Just simply have it exported to an email), you can export it to YouTube, SoundCloud, and possibly Facebook. It says you can export it to Messenger, Google Drive, and other places, often it will say something like, "Doesnt Support File." So you cant export it to say edit your song on a Mac version of GarageBand. 3. They need cross platform capability. Allow iOS GarageBand to export to be imported into Mac GarageBand. But from an iPod. Not just an iPhone or iPad. 4. You cant save it (your song) as a MP3! It had to save as a .band file. Which you cant import solely because you cant export it as one. 5. You cant export a .band file to Google Drive. It goes 99% then stops. I figure its just reading all the data. But it never fully uploads. 6. You cant import sounds on the iOS versions. 7. They should have a shortcut for rhythmic patterns to click on. Like samples of drum patterns most common in genres you can pick from. It would save time and effort than going in and editing every single note. Example: making a perfect triplet, guitar strumming. 8. They need a better mastering. Like the ability to turn up the volume of recorded sounds even more. I sometimes have to record vocal chants for songs and I either have to be extremely loud or turn down the rest of the instruments to make the recording louder. It makes terrible end product mastering wise. 9. Again, needs better export options. Make a linking app if you have to. 10. Have customization options where you can change the reverb, delay, pitch, tone, and speed of INDIVIDUAL notes. (I dont know if you have that already though) 11. Have the option to play a recording on the piano roll at different pitches without slowing down or speeding up the recording. 12. And lastly but extremely important: An AUTOSAVE option. As well as an Low Battery Auto Save option that comes on before your phone/iPod/iPad dies. As well as have the ability to look at he past 5 autosaves and reopen them. (Kinda like Adobe does.) Has potential, need to focus on customer feedback and fixing headphone jack bug.

The best one

I love it

amazing

I love this app. Custom drum samples and importing from voice memos would be really great additions. ✌

Compared to other DAWs...

This should be one star for how terrible this app is in comparison to pretty much ANY other DAWs on the market. Its not very accurate with latency or sometimes even playing the notes AT ALL!!! Also, a big thing for me is that all other DAWs can output their audio (some even their midi data) into other apps easily transferring your ideas from one app to the next and so on. This app wont link with audiobus or AUM as an input to another app. ONLY AS AN OUTPUT!!!! STUPID!!! When this gets fixed Ill change my rating.. Although, I highly doubt they even care about making this app function well within other apps. Or its simply just too much work to ask for an input with core midi, virtual midi, or at the very least output its audio into another receiving app.

help me out please

i love this app on my iPhone but i want to listen to music i make on my blue tooth speaker i dont know how to make it play on it tho every other app werk on Bluetooth speaker on my phone please help me out im not vary intelligent

This is the best ever

All the improvements and additional features really rock... There could not have been any better GarageBand before this and yet there is nothing else in its class elsewhere... Thumbs up to the developers. Now the studio is everywhere we go likewise the jive... I can do the instant club and party sessions, no rehearsal.
