GarageBand App Reviews

Ive had GarageBand since 2015 and all I can say is that this is one really cool app for those who want to create music or just tinker around. However there seems to be one thing thats absent in GarageBand, particularly in the drum presets. There hasnt been any orchestra drum instruments "snare,bass,etc." added in GarageBand other than the Chinese kit. When trying to make cinematic musical scores, using the regular drums definitely doesnt sound "fitting" at all. I think it would be great if an orchestral drum kit is implemented in a future update.

Im going to start out by saying this app is a better emulator than a recording software. I have been using the app for over two years and have noticed a few things. If you really want to make decent music with this then you will want to buy a decent mic (I recommend the Rhode NT-USB for beginners) and the $30 USB camera adapter (you can buy them from the Apple Store). These will help you Record better sounds like guitars (which are nearly impossible to play in the app, use an actual guitar) and synths. Doing this will allow you to record directly into the app itself rather than through the ipads/iPhones microphone. After doing this you will quickly notice the the FX options are extremely weak and are hard to optimize properly. I already owned the Noviation Launchpad app with all the effects so I found it easier to take my tracks from garage band and export them to launchpad or Blocs wave. Aside from a few problems the app is great. The ability to have jame sessions with friends remind me of abletion link however do not expect to be able to use other supporting apps like you can with abletion. I would highly encourage those who want to make simple songs or those who want to learn how to use a recording studio to buy garage band but if you want to get into music production on a serious level I would not make this your main source unless you also have it on MacBook.

every time i play the drums and record it the recording always messes up and delays the taps and it sounds off

I play a lot of stringed instruments and they dont have the open strings so you can never play the instruments correctly. I just hope someone can fix this but other than that the app is pretty good

This app is up to date and the very best music production app out there but You have a lot of music and stuff but a way less of drum kits to use

This app is nearly perfect. However, there has been a recent change where tracks from one song will overwrite tracks from another song for seemingly no reason, which absolutely destroys the app. This fatal flaw makes it impossible to rate the app any higher than 2 stars at this point.

I am still figuring out how to make music on Garage Band, but I find it very fun.

I cant start playing music, its say start, I press it nothing happens, plz fix it

This app is great, but it has some bad sides. You can make YouTube videos like me, but there might end up being a copyright notice.

I love this app, except, it doesnt have a feature I saw on a different iPad. If is the "dubstep" or "house" version (the new update Im pretty sure). Im pretty sure I need to update my software bug I wont let me it says " iPad is up to date." Maybe its the IOS version I have or maybe its a glitch.

Its very good because the Instruments are very realistic and very good sounds

I love this app and use it everyday to mess around with and make songs. The app is great how it is but it could use more instruments like bells and steel drums for percussion. Also, other things like a more realistic violin and a more modern bass sound. Love the app just keep updating!

GarageBand had progressively gotten to the point of being the best DAW for iOS... I love everything about it!

I cant upload a song from I cloud please help

Again, Apple thinks it knows what you need better than you do. - Convoluted operation - No Wav export - Limited export settings - Recording duration set to 8 bars by default. Why for crying out loud? (You can change it but I needed to google it first) - Not intuitive at all - Only works in horizontal format - Freezes during file export + Monitoring function + Presets

It keeps saying: oh cannot download try again, worst app ever. Fix this

When I updated to IOS 10.3, Garageband was slower to use. I am hoping that the next update will be available very soon.
